Statement
Although the subject of my work often changes, experimentation with color is the cornerstone of every painting. As an artist and former fashion designer, I have studied color extensively and recognize how subjective it can be. While it can elicit a range of emotions, I choose to use color to evoke joy in my work.
In addition to color interactions, this collection of paintings explores the contrast of line and form. By combining flat pattern with dimensional objects, the canvas creates a space in which these contrasting elements harmonize. This work creates an opportunity to explore the dimensionality of myself as well. While gestural brushwork shows my hand as an artist, glimmers of my past life as a designer are intertwined in lineation. The creative process of this collection brought my worlds together within the layers of color, order and expression.
