Statement
I am a woman of color, figuratively and literally. My love of color encompasses both how they interact with each other as well as their capability to convey emotions and feelings. Colors are among the most powerful forces to instantly act on one’s humor. Among all the different techniques available to artists today, I specifically chose oil painting for the vibrancy and intensity of the colors.
These little square paintings are made intuitively, putting one hue next to another and allowing the colors to make the artwork. And then magic occurs. The colors coalesce into an image that is shaped by the viewer’s experience. I’ve gotten so many different responses upon showing my work. It is truly amazing and incredibly rewarding to be able to convey joy and bring back fond memories just with little squares of color.
These were featured in the summer edition of Arts to Hearts magazine, curated by gallerist Liz Lidgett.
